GET READY FOR THE VULCAN EFFECT! - Iconic aircraft confirmed for Bournemouth Air Festival – money still needed for second display...
This year's 2010 Bournemouth Air Festival display line-up features parachute teams, international aircraft, world-famous pilots, incredible display teams and super-fast jets; but for avid Festival goers and aircraft enthusiasts, one iconic aircraft has yet to be confirmed – the Avro Vulcan.
To help secure the aircraft, Festival organisers are urging local businesses, individuals and companies to back the event and for only £200 become an official Patron. So far more than 45 businesses have joined the scheme, but an additional 20 Patrons are needed to raise the target of £4,000 for the Vulcan to display at the weekend.
Robert Pleming, CEO Vulcan to the Sky Trust said; "Bournemouth was the highlight of 2009 for us, and we're so incredibly keen to come back and display again this year; we're urging everyone to get behind the Patron's scheme, so the Vulcan effect can take hold of the town again!"
Patron's money so far has gone towards funding the new Thursday evening dusk display featuring the Dutch F-16, Miss Demeanour Hunter Jet, sparkling glider and Red Devils.
Gina Mackin, Patron's Scheme champion added: "The Patron's scheme was designed specifically for challenges like this. We're asking people and businesses who benefit from the Festival and even aircraft enthusiasts, to contribute only £200 towards the record-breaking landmark event. We need to raise at least another £4,000 for the aircraft to come and display over the weekend, so show your support and know that you have done your bit for the town."
From the town centre to the promenade, the UK’s leading resort will keep you entertained from 19th – 22nd August.
There’s an amphibious beach assault by the Royal Marines, trips to HMS Bangor (moored in the bay), Pilot ‘Meet & Greet’ tent, tanks, 1.5 miles of trade stalls and attractions, funfair, RAF Village (complete with a mock-up Chinook helicopter), Royal Navy Village, Royal Marines area, tanks, Veteran’s tent, entertainment in the Lower Gardens and exciting ‘Night Air’ evening entertainment line-up.
Tune into BBC Radio Solent ‘Air Festival Radio’ wherever you are, for live display commentary broadcasts on 1359AM frequency.
Night Air
‘Night Air’ entertainment is the perfect way to end an incredible Festival line-up. Until 10pm Thursday – Saturday evening’s Festival goers can enjoy ‘Night Air’ entertainment in the Lower Gardens.
This year the ‘Night Air’ line-up will include the must-see Royal Navy programme, which will take place opposite the bandstand in the Lower Gardens. Check out HM Royal Marines Band Collingwood performing the Beat Retreat and performances by the Royal Marines Combat Display Team – both were a superb success last year and a favourite amongst the many festival-goers who were able to see them.
In addition to the superb Royal Navy programme, there will also be fantastic live music, magical balloon glows, street entertainers, fireworks and outdoor film screenings.
Exclusive to Thursday evening is the ‘new for 2010' evening air display from 8pm – make sure you get your place on the beach, this is going to be great! The programme is being finalised but it’s set to include a jet, parachute team and aircraft display teams…another reason to ’stay longer and see more!’
