Kemble Airshows 2002
There will be a Kemble Air Day on the 16th June 2002 and a
Kemble Heli-Air Day on September 1st 2002.
The 6th Great Vintage Flying Weekend (G-VFWE) is also being held at
Kemble on 10th - 12th May 2002.

At Kemble Air Day on 16th June 2002 it is planned to have a diamond nine of five Gnats and four Hunters in the finale. Kemble Air Day is officially marking the 40th Anniversary of the entry in to Royal Air Force service of the Folland Gnat.
The Dutch F-16 will be operating from RAF Lynham as Kemble's lengthened runway has not yet been certified for the F-16. The Danish T-33D 'T-Bird' will not now take part in the show although there should be the Sea Vixen (ETA 1010hrs). An Arrows Formula 1 car will also be on display in the static park.

RAF Valley PhotoCall 2002
There will be a PhotoCall at RAF Valley on Friday 7th June 2002.
'One of the themes being 60th Anniversary of the arrival of the 8th AF at RAF Valley. The 31st FW arrived with Spitfires and we hope to secure several USAF aircraft together with RAF/RN/NATO aircraft for that day. There will be limited flypasts etc and the enclosure will be close to the action as the airfield will be operational on the day. More details to follow.'
Tickets are being limited to 500 and can be purchased in advance at £10.

Update (9/3/02)
Just updating the news the PHOTOCALL being held at RAF Valley on Friday 7th
JUNE, 2002 is still going ahead. There are approx 150 tickets left at £10 per
person [in advance only] Between 8.30 and 4.30hrs.
Access to the Visting Aircarft Section apron where up to twenty aircraft will
be taxiing in front of the crowd. The station is still operational and over 60
sorties will be flown that day. The Hawk display aircraft will be practising
in front of the crowd line.
To date BAE Systems are hoping to send the Hawk 100 LIFT, HAWK MK 53 ex
Indonesian now in BAE colours and the PC-9 from Warton. The Typhoon from the
OEU if operational will pay a visit. USAFE are sending F-16's from Aviano and
Eagles from Lakenheath. Alpha Jet or Meteor from Llanbedr and Harriers from
Cottesmore, plus it is hoped several more from the UK and the display jets
planned for Cosford the following Sunday 9th June [Mirage , F-16's etc]

Update (3/5/02)
QinetiQ Alpha Jet, Italian F-104's, USAFE F15/16's possible A-10's as well,
French Mirages, Belgian F-16's, Tornado's from Marham, Jags from Colt,
Harriers from Cottesmore. P51 Mustang, Hunter T7and support from BAE Systems
with Hawk 100 and Ex Indonesian Hawk and PC-9. Raspberry Ripple jets from
Boscombe.
At this time, the enclosure will be alongside the active visiting aircraft
ASP.There will be @ least a dozen aircraft from the AIR Sqn present over night, who
will depart form 8.30 to 9.30 then all other aircraft are scheduled to arrive
in stages throughout the day.
A number of aircraft will be taxiing in and out all day long with larger
aircraft carrying out flypasts parallel to the enclosure. The sun[hopefully]
will be at your back or far left all day

Gates open at 07.30hrs. Flying commences at 8.00hrs so entry is permitted up
until 9.00hrs. The event will continue up until 16.00hrs.
The enclosure adjoins the Visiting aircraft ramp and all aircraft are
therefore accessible as they taxi in and out of the static display line. All
aircraft carrying out flypasts and practice air displays will hopefully do so
along the Runway 01/19 datum, dependent on Weather.
The sun is positioned favourably until 15.00hrs

Salthill Air Show 2002
The Airshow will be held at Salthill, Galway, Rep. of Ireland on Sunday, 7th July 2002, and the display will be at 3pm.
The Salthill Air Show is a free air show held every summer along the Salthill Promenade on the shores of the famous Galway Bay in Ireland.
Previous displays have included the Red Arrows, Luftwaffe, Marinefliger, US Air Force, US Army, US Navy, Spanish Air Force, French Air Force, Royal Air Force, Irish Air Corps, Garda (Irish Police) Air Support Unit.
A static display is also included, consisting of the various helicopters flying on the day, along with displays by, among others, the Irish Defence Forces and the RNLI.
Various naval and rescue vessels are also anchored in Galway Bay.
Abingdon Fayre 02
Abingdon Fayre will be held at Abingdon Airfield, Oxfordshire on Sunday, 5th May 2002.
Amongst other attractions, it includes Air Displays & an invitational Fly In.
Public Opening time is 10am until 4.30pm.
Regarding aircraft participation, i cannot confirm 100% at present but i hope to have limited RAF support in the small Flying Display & Static park, DC3, a smattering of PFA , Classical & Vintage types on view.

As of 4.3.02 about 25% of the tickets have already been taken.
Friday will be a Fly-in day and the Saturday will be all static, except for some model aircraft flying around.
Friday April 5th.
Participating aircraft will be arriving during the period 10:00 - 13:00 and
ticket holders will be allowed access to a site close to and abeam the
runway threshold from where they can photograph the aircraft as they flare
for landing. Ear protection devices are strongly advised! Based aircraft
will be arriving/departing on routine missions during this time and local
airfields have received invites to send fly-throughs. Only 250 tickets in
total available at £10.00 each.

All UK Military flying tomorrow will
stop at 11.00 and restart at 13.00 as a mark of respect to the Queen Mother
being moved in London -
Fly in will now be 13.00 to 17.00
Saturday April 6th.
All II(AC) Sqn Tornado GR4A aircraft will be on display in the II (AC) Sqn
site in a variety of role and weapon fits. The aircraft will be positioned
outside the HAS with all blanks and warning flags removed. There will also
be the line-up of visiting aircraft that will arrive on the Friday. All
visitors have yet to be finalised but will include fast jets and
helicopters. There will be a total of 1000 tickets available, also priced at
£10.00 each. You should plan to arrive between 10:00 - 12:00, gates will
close at 16:00.
On both days there will be snacks and hot/cold drinks available for purchase
as will squadron memorabilia - no film or batteries! There will be no
shelter facilities in the event of wet weather so please come prepared.

Abingdon Aviation & PhotoDay will be held at Abingdon Airfield/Dalton Barracks, Oxfordshire, on Saturday 3rd August 2002. Gates will be open at 10am until 4pm.
This second smaller event to be held at Abingdon this year will consist of mainly Vintage types, some ex-military.
Up to 35 types will be arriving during the day, to include Bulldogs, Chipmunks, ex 5AEF Beagle Husky, Tiger Moth, Isaacs Fury, Extra 300L, Yak 18T & return of a Merlin HC3 of 28SQN will pop in (10am - 11am) .
Other types i cannot confirm 100% as yet.

Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival 2002
The Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival 2002 will be held on
Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd of August 2002.
The Shropshire Air Show at Sleap Airfield, Shropshire will be held on 18th August 2002. Gates will be
open at 09.30hrs. Entrance costs £10(Adults), £5(Children).
B-17G, B-25, P-51D, F4U Corsair, TBM-3 Avenger, Dakota, Spitfires, RNHF Swordfish, Harvards, Microlease Team, Utterly Butterly Barnstormers, Diana Britten Flying her Cap 232's gyroscopic aerobatics display, Hawker Hunter, and Jaguar GR3.
The Clacton Air Show, will be held on 22nd-23rd August 2002. This is a free Airshow with the flying display starting from 13.45-17.00hrs with Airshow acts interspersed among land and water-borne activities.
The Yorkshire Air Show at Elvington Airfield, near York, will be held on 25th-26th August 2002. Gates open at 08.30hrs and flying display begins at 13.30hrs. Admission is £12(Adults), £10(Senior citizen), and £6(Child under 12).

The Kemble Heli-Air day in Gloucestershire will be held on 1st September 2002. Gates open at 10.00hrs and flying display begins at 14.00hrs. Admission is £10 per person, with under-15s free. This event will have an 'Open Day' feel to it, including a helicopter fly-in.
Blue Eagles, Merlin HC3, Enstrom variant (Dennis Kenyon), Wasp HAS1.
On static will be: Chinook HC2, Merlin HC3, and Puma HC1, backed up by a mix of Wasps, Scouts, and Gazelles.
The Jersey Air Display will be held on 12th September 2002.
